What you need before you apply
- A demat account (16-digit BOID) and a Meroshare login from your depository participant (DP).
- A bank account at a C-ASBA bank, linked to Meroshare — with enough balance for the units you apply for.
- Your CRN (Customer Reference Number) from that bank, and the 4-digit transaction PIN you set in Meroshare.
Steps in Meroshare
- Go to meroshare.cdsc.com.np (or the Meroshare app), choose your DP and log in.
- Open My ASBA from the menu.
- Under Apply for Issue, find the company and share type (Ordinary Shares) and press Apply.
- Select your bank and account number.
- Enter the units (kitta). The minimum is 10; the maximum is set for each issue.
- Type your CRN and tick the declaration.
- Press Proceed and enter your transaction PIN.
- Press Apply. Check My ASBA → Application Report — the status should read Verified.
After you apply
Your bank blocks the amount until allotment. If you are not allotted, the block is released; if you are, only the allotted units are debited. Allotted shares appear in My Shares once the company's shares are credited, before listing.
IPOs often have separate quotas — general public, project-affected locals for hydropower, and Nepalis in foreign employment. Each quota is a separate issue in Meroshare and you can only apply in the ones you qualify for.
How many units should I apply for?
When an IPO is heavily oversubscribed — most NEPSE IPOs are — winners of the lottery usually get only the minimum 10 units, so applying for more rarely raises your allotment. Apply for 10 unless the issue looks undersubscribed.
Why does my application say 'Unverified'?
The bank has not yet confirmed the block. It usually turns Verified within a few hours. If it stays unverified, check the CRN and account balance with your bank before the issue closes.
Can I apply after the closing date?
No. Applications close at the end of the issue's last day (or earlier if it closes early). Each IPO page on Hamroshare shows the open and close dates.
