How to transfer shares from Meroshare to TMS (EDIS)?

After you sell in TMS, log in to Meroshare, set the purchase price under My Purchase Source, then open My EDIS → Transfer Shares, tick the sold shares and confirm. Do it by your broker's deadline — usually the next trading day — or the trade can be closed out with a penalty.

Steps

  1. Sell the shares in your broker's TMS.
  2. Log in to Meroshare.
  3. Open My Purchase Source and set the purchase price for the shares you sold (WACC is calculated from this, and it decides your capital gains tax).
  4. Open My EDIS → Transfer Shares. Your sale appears with its settlement ID.
  5. Tick the shares, accept the declaration and press Proceed.
  6. Check My EDIS → EDIS Report — status should be Success.

Deadline and penalty

Brokers generally require EDIS by the next trading day after the sale (T+1). If the shares aren't transferred in time the sale counts as a short delivery, and brokers charge a closeout penalty that can reach 20% of the sale amount. Check your broker's notice for the exact cutoff.

EDIS isn't showing my sale

  • Wait a few hours after the trade — sales appear once the clearing file reaches CDSC.
  • If the company is in its book-closure period, delivery is paused; transfer after the closure ends.
  • Shares you just bought may not be settled yet (T+2) and can't be transferred until they are.

Do I need EDIS to buy shares?

No. EDIS is only for selling — it moves shares out of your demat to settle the sale.

What is bulk EDIS?

If you sold several companies in one day, Meroshare lets you transfer them in one go from the same screen.
