Open a demat account and a TMS account with a NEPSE broker, load funds as collateral in TMS, and place a buy order between 11:00 and 15:00, Monday to Friday. Once the order matches, pay the broker by T+2 and the shares reach your demat account.
Work out your own trade
Enter your units and price in the share calculator for the exact commission, SEBON fee, DP charge and capital gains tax — buy and sell, IPO and regular. Every broker charges the same NEPSE rates — find your broker's TMS login.
Steps
- Open a demat account and Meroshare with a DP.
- Open a trading (TMS) account with a NEPSE member broker — KYC again, usually online.
- Log in to your broker's TMS (tmsNN.nepsetms.com.np) and load collateral via connectIPS or bank transfer.
- Search the symbol, choose Buy, enter quantity and a limit price, and submit.
- When the order executes, settle the payment with the broker by T+2.
- The shares are credited to your demat. Check them in Meroshare → My Shares.
What it costs
Broker commission is tiered — 0.36% on a Rs 50,000 trade, falling for larger ones, with a Rs 10 minimum — plus a 0.015% SEBON fee and a Rs 25 DP charge per company per day.
Example: 100 shares at Rs 500 = Rs 50,000, commission Rs 180.00, SEBON Rs 7.50, DP Rs 25 — total Rs 50,212.50 (Rs 502.13 per share).
When you sell at a profit, capital gains tax is 5% for individuals holding up to a year and 3.75% after.
Can I buy shares with Rs 1,000?
Yes — there is no minimum amount, only whole shares. But the Rs 25 DP charge and Rs 10 minimum commission make very small trades expensive in percentage terms.
What are NEPSE trading hours?
